Regional Group Capacity
Murray LLS provides financial support to four groups who act as key NRM and sustainable agriculture partners in the region and help establish and maintain a network of community groups. As part of this program, each group has employed a dedicated Community Support Officer to help establish a regional network of community groups by delivering activities that build the capacity of community groups within their area, promote sustainable land management and NRM practices and improve the condition of the natural environment.
This program is funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme.

Community Support Officer
Corowa District Landcare
Corowa District Landcare supports the community within the area encompassing Corowa, Rand, Oaklands and Urana townships. The group focuses on educating the local community in sustainable NRM and agriculture. Holbrook Landcare Network
Holbrook Landcare Network (HLN) is a large rural organisation that operates in the south-east region of NSW. HLN supports the community, predominantly farmers, through a variety of agricultural and NRM projects that focus on the adoption of sustainable, productive and innovative agricultural practices. Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia
Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) supports farmers in the rice growing areas of the Deniliquin, Berriquin and Wakool districts. The RGA Environmental Champions Program (ECP) works to achieve environmental and economic outcomes by encouraging farmers to improve on-farm environmental management. The ECP is a farmer-driven five level accreditation program that supports farmers to share knowledge about adaptive, best practice resource management and gain industry recognition for their achievements. Western Murray Land Improvement Group
The Western Murray Land Improvement Group (WMLIG) operates in the Wakool Shire area to support local community members, Landcare and producer groups to access funding for agricultural and natural resource improvement initiatives. In particular, WMLIG actively promotes sustainable farm and land management practices that deliver improved agricultural productivity, sustainability and ecosystem services.
