Positive Community Response to Strategic Water Program

Local community groups and organisations have responded positively to Murray CMA’s Strategic Water Program (Program).

The Program invited local community groups to tell us about their ideas and issues and how Murray CMA might be able to assist progress these.

Project Director Gary Rodda said 33 first round ideas and issues were submitted under the Program.

“The response to the Program has exceeded our expectations demonstrating the high level of local community interest in water use and management.

“Submissions included a number of innovative ideas that were lodged from groups across the catchment,” said Mr Rodda

On 18 December 2013, a community based Steering Committee undertook a preliminary assessment of all submissions.

The Project Team will soon be making formal contact with each group that made a submission to inform them of the outcomes of this assessment.

The Program applies to the Murray Local Land Services area of operations which comes into effect on 1 January 2014 and includes all of the local government areas between Wakool Shire Council in the west and Tumbarumba Shire Council in the east.
