Travelling stock reserve restrictions unchanged

Murray Local Land Services today announced there would be no change to stock access restrictions on Travelling Stock Reserves currently in force in the western half of the Murray Local Land Services Region.

On 4 May 2015, stock access to the following parts of the Murray Local Land Services Region was restricted to 'Destination Only 'in the following areas:

  • West of the Colombo Creek and north of Billabong Creek between Morundah and Jerilderie.
  • West of, but not including, the Newell Highway between Jerilderie and Tocumwal.

'Destination Only' means travelling stock must have a genuine point of destination that is able to receive the stock. The travel rate must be 10km per day and no slow travel will be permitted.  Destination only does not restrict local routine stock movements between properties.

Manager Land Services, Helen Wilson, said that a slight improvement in climatic conditions had deferred the need to consider the introduction of more severe restrictions until at least late June.

"Grazing restrictions on travelling stock reserves are currently in place to allow vegetation cover to increase and ensure the long term sustainability of the reserves."

"Murray Local Land Services is continuing to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates as conditions change" she concluded.

Stock owners or managers in the affected areas can get further information from their local Murray Local Land Services offices in Deniliquin, Jerilderie and Moulamein.
